8 medium oranges
2 small boxes orange gelatin
1 cup boiling water
1 cup milk,
chilled 1 cup vanilla ice cream,
softened 1 cup prepared whipped topping
14 chocolate sandwich cookies,
crushed finely Cinnamon sticks, for garnish

The Lights were on at Hawks Rise
Hawks Rise Elementary Afterschool Program celebrated Lights on Afterschool on October 18th by hosting an open house to showcase all the activities offered at the program. The event began at 5pm with the school's assistant principal, Pat Zackery, reading the proclamation to a crowd of 200+. Children and families were then entertained by several Afterschool group performances, including dance, cheerleading, music, and our kindergarten groups. Our essay contest winners read aloud their essays about what they liked best about Afterschool, and Paulin Halle represented the department of juvenile justice with information about the benefits of children being in an organized program after school. Afterwards, everyone joined in some fun activities such as volleyball, crafts and science, and we served up hotdogs, chips and veggies. We kept the "lights on" until 7pm, and It was a great evening for all involved!4Vote!
